The first doctor in Switzerland to work with TCM medicines was Thomas Grauer. It was on his initiative that the first TCM herbs arrived in Switzerland almost 50 years ago. The pharmacist Silvia Briggen was prepared to stock them in the Bellevue pharmacy in Zurich. Thomas Grauer was also involved in the founding of the first association that focussed on TCM medicines: the ZG-TCM was initially a purely medical association. Prof Manfred Porkert was the first teacher of the small group of students who gathered around this outstanding sinologist. Stays in Chengdu (Sichuan) were part of the training programme. The small group repeatedly invited lecturers from China to Switzerland. Expertise and experience were continuously accumulated. Now it is passed on in lectures, on courses and also in this way: TCM doctors can sit in on courses.

Doctor Silvio Schaller was also there from the very beginning. He also travelled to Chengdu repeatedly for professional and then family reasons. He was a founding member of the Wilfriedstrasse practice group, where his wife Xiaoyong also works. Silvio Schaller worked for many years with acupuncture and pharmaceuticals, today only with the latter. As a general practitioner, he is confronted with a broad spectrum of general practice problems and is also very experienced in treating children and dermatological diseases. He received his additional training in this field from Mazin al Khafaji in London and knows exactly where the pitfalls lurk in this discipline. TCM doctors are welcome to visit.

Nina Zhao-Seiler is multi-talented when it comes to TCM. Not only does she speak Chinese very well and studied sinology, but she also initiated the TCM garden at the ZHAW Wädenswil and has been leading tour groups through China for many years, visiting TCM universities, farms that cultivate and process TCM plants and travelling to tea plantations. Cultural and culinary topics are not neglected either. She treats children with acupuncture and TCM medicines, as well as baby and toddler massage.
